National Australia Bank (NAB) is one of Australia's Big Four banks (along with ANZ, Westpac, and Commonwealth Bank of Australia). It operates in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the UK, and the US through subsidiaries that provide banking, wealth management, and investment banking services. NAB has some 800 branches in Australia and, through Bank of New Zealand, another 200 in New Zealand. Subsidiaries Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank operate more than 350 offices in the UK. NAB offers debt, risk management, and investment products for institutional clients. To establish a foothold in the US, NAB acquired Great Western Bancorporation for $A836 million ($798 million) in 2008.
