ICON Health & Fitness has brawn as one of the leading US makers of home fitness equipment. Its products primarily include treadmills, elliptical trainers, and weight benches. Brands include NordicTrack, HealthRider, ProForm, Reebok, and Weider. ICON also offers commercial equipment through its FreeMotion Fitness segment. The company makes most of its products in Utah, but it also has operations in Brazil, China, France, and Mexico. Products are sold through retailers (such as Sears, Wal-Mart, and Sports Authority), infomercials, and the Web. The company was founded as a housewares importer in 1977. Bain Capital, Credit Suisse, and founders Scott Watterson and Gary Stevenson collectively own ICON.
