Assisted Living Concepts (ALC) helps its residents live large. The company runs about 220 assisted living centers in some 20 states in the US. Its facilities have a total of over 9,000 dwelling units that provide full-time housing for aging adults. ALC's communities enable residents to maintain fairly independent lifestyles but provide assistance with activities such as eating, bathing, medication management, and laundry. The facilities also offer social activities, arts and crafts, and the like. The Jodrey family, of which chairman David Hennigar is a member, controls 53% of the company's voting shares through Scotia Investments.
