Waterford Wedgwood is (gently) toasting its position as the world's premier maker of luxury crystal and fine china. Formed by the 1986 merger of the two iconic brands, the company's Waterford Crystal Group produces handcrafted crystal stemware, lamps, and giftware under the Waterford and Stuart brands. The Wedgwood Group makes fine bone china giftware and tableware under the Wedgwood brand. It also includes the brand Royal Doulton. Still, after several years of losses, Waterford Wedgwood entered administration (the British equivalent of bankruptcy in the US) in 2009 and was acquired by the New York-based private equity firm KPS Capital Partners.
