Smaller brewers are green with envy. Heineken, one of the world's brewing giants, sells its namesake beer in its easily recognized green bottle in just about every country on the planet. Its other well-known brands include Amstel and Murphy's. In addition to its own brands, the company offers some 170 international, regional, and specialty beers, including Murphy's Irish Red (Europe), Cordoba (Argentina), and Tiger (Asia). The company also distributes wine and soft drinks and other beverages. In 2008 Heineken and fellow brewer Carlsberg acquired the Irish brewer Scottish & Newcastle (S&N) for $15.3 billion. The founding Heineken family controls the company.
