Swire holds nearly 20 million sq. ft. of developed and undeveloped commercial and residential real estate in Hong Kong, China, and the US, primarily in Florida. Its marine services for the oil and gas industry provide production and exploration support. Swire also owns 40% of Cathay Pacific Airways, and it is a major Coca-Cola bottler in southern China. Its industrial group has interests in retail, manufacturing, sporting goods, and sugar. The firm is controlled by its founding family through UK-based John Swire & Sons.
