Trammell Crow Residential builds and maintains quite the nest. It invests in, develops, builds, acquires, and manages apartment communities and condominiums, from upscale to affordable housing projects. The company, which operates through about 20 offices across the US, has developed more than 200,000 individual units since its founding in the late '70s. Trammell Crow Residential's portfolio includes some 200 properties located in major markets across the country, with the heaviest concentrations in Texas, the Southeast, and the West. Many are are branded Alexan Communities. The company split from mammoth real estate firm Trammell Crow in 1977 but is still associated with the Crow family empire.
