One of the world's largest law firms, DLA Piper has about 3,500 lawyers operating in the US, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The firm's network of more than 65 offices spans about 30 countries. DLA Piper serves corporate clients through a broad range of practices divided into about a dozen key groups; specialties include mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, regulatory and government affairs, and technology and media. Clients have included Life Technologies, British Midland Airways, and Trident Microsystems. The firm was formed in 2005 when Maryland-based Piper Rudnick merged with California-based Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich and UK firm DLA.
