After a lot of R&R (reconstruction and renewal), Lloyd's (aka Lloyd's of London) is back at work as the world's leading insurance exchange. Not an insurance company, it regulates about 65 syndicates with more than 40 managing agents, which are made up of corporate underwriters and wealthy individuals that transact insurance business worth billions in premiums each year. Also part of the picture are Lloyd's brokers, who bring business to the market. Lloyd's is a top conduit for aviation and marine insurance, as well as specialty insurance, such as policies covering celebrity body parts or protecting against acts of terrorism.
