Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates plucks its success from vines. One of California's largest winemakers, Kendall-Jackson produces the top-selling chardonnay in the US, Vintner's Reserve. Its other leading (and most expensive) wine is Grand Reserve. Sold in restaurants, stores, and via the company's Web site (where legal), Kendall-Jackson's wines -- in addition to its well-known chardonnay -- include merlot, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, and zinfandel. Kendall-Jackson owns and farms vineyards running along the California coast. Founder and billionaire Jess Jackson and his family own Kendall-Jackson.
