Ferrellgas Partners' flame is burning brightly as the second-largest US retail marketer of propane, behind AmeriGas. The company sells about 850 million gallons of propane a year to more than 1 million industrial, commercial, and agricultural customers in all 50 states. It operates about 870 retail outlets, and its delivery fleet includes about 4,000 trucks and trailers. The Blue Rhino unit operates a propane cylinder-exchange business throughout the US. Ferrellgas also trades propane and natural gas, markets wholesale propane, provides liquid natural gas storage, and markets chemical feedstock. About a third of the company's stock is held in trust for employees.
