Ingram Industries Inc. Company Profile
Ingram Industries is big in books and boats. Ingram Book Group is the largest wholesale book distributor in the US; it ships books, as well as music, DVDs, and videos to retail outlets. It also ships internationally through its Ingram International arm. Ingram Marine Group operates Ingram Barge. The nation's largest inland carrier, Ingram Barge ships grain, ore, and other products via a fleet of about 4,000 barges and more than 130 towboats. The Ingram family, led by chairman Martha (Rivers) Ingram (the matriarch of one of America's wealthiest families), owns and runs Ingram Industries and controls about 20% of the shares of Ingram Micro (a top computer products wholesaler).
