Hunt Consolidated is a holding company for the oil and real estate businesses of Ray Hunt, son of legendary Texas wildcatter and company founder H.L. Hunt. Founded in 1934 (reportedly with H.L.'s poker winnings), Hunt Oil is an oil and gas production and exploration company with primary interests in North and South America. Hoping to repeat huge discoveries in Yemen, Hunt is exploring in Canada, Ghana, Madagascar, and Oman. Signaling a new strategic direction, in 2007 Hunt Oil struck a deal with Iraqi officials to explore for oil in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdish region. Hunt Realty handles commercial and residential real estate investment management activities.
