Prom-goers may prefer limos, but grown-ups who've really made it -- executives, celebrities, and heads of state -- arrive in jets (and rarely rent tuxes). Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, a General Dynamics subsidiary, is the largest maker of private jets in the world, ahead of Bombardier. The company's smallest plane (G150) seats up to eight and has a range of 2,950 nautical miles (nm); its largest (G550) offering seats up to 19, cruises at Mach 0.885, and has a range of 6,750 nm. To help market its new aircraft, the company's Gulfstream Financial Services unit helps arrange financing. Gulfstream also provides aftermarket maintenance services and sells used Gulfstream aircraft.
