Promgoers may prefer limos, but grownups who've really made it -- executives, celebrities, and heads of state -- arrive in jets (and rarely rent tuxes). Gulfstream Aerospace, a General Dynamics subsidiary, is the largest maker of private jets in the world, ahead of Bombardier. The company's smallest plane, the G150, seats up to eight and has a range of 2,950 nautical miles (nm); its largest, the G550, seats up to 19, cruises at Mach 0.885, and has a range of up to 6,750nm. To help market its new aircraft, the company's Gulfstream Financial Services unit helps arrange financing. Gulfstream also provides aftermarket maintenance services and sells used Gulfstream aircraft.
