With a crop of nearly 1,400 members in California, Arizona, and Texas, Calcot is one of the top cotton-marketing cooperatives in the US. Members of the co-op, which started in 1927, primarily grow premium-grade Far Western cottons, including California Upland, Pima, and San Joaquin Acala varieties. The company operates six warehousing locations and sells between 1 and 2 million bales of cotton per year. Approximately 85% of Calcot's annual harvest is exported to textile mills worldwide, mostly in Pacific Rim countries. Calcot and three other major US co-ops together comprise Amcot, a worldwide cotton marketer.
