In Greek and Roman mythology, Apollo is the god of light, medicine, arts, and archery, but Apollo Advisors is even more diverse. Also known as Apollo Management, the private equity firm owns stakes in companies in a wide range of industries. Its portfolio holdings include movie theater chain AMC Entertainment, Berry Plastics, CEVA Logistics, realty franchiser Realogy, Jacuzzi Brands, specialty manufacturer RBS Global, and Hexion Specialty Chemicals. Apollo joined forces with TPG to purchase gaming company Harrah's Entertainment for nearly $28 billion in early 2008. Hexion's deal to acquire Huntsman fell into turmoil that year due to the credit crisis.
