Spelling errors notwithstanding, Advocat strives to be an advocate for the elderly through its nursing homes and assisted-living facilities, most of which are located in the southeastern and southwestern US. The company operates some 50 nursing homes and assisted-living centers with a total of some 5,800 beds. Advocat, which focuses on rural areas, offers a range of health care services including skilled nursing, recreational therapy, and social services, as well as nutritional support, respiratory treatments, rehabilitative therapy, and other specialized ancillary services.
