WestPoint Home Stores puts everything from flowers to cartoons in bed with you. Formerly known as WestPoint Stevens, the firm makes comforters, blankets, pillows, table covers, and window coverings, which it sells primarily to department stores, mass retailers, and bed and bath stores. Brand names include Martex, Utica, Charisma, Grand Patrician, and Vellux, as well as licensed brands such as Ralph Lauren, Harley-Davidson, and Scooby Doo. In part due to slumping sales, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2003 and emerged two years later and changed its name to WestPoint Home. Corporate raider Carl Icahn's Icahn Enterprises is a majority owner of WestPoint International, the firm's holding company.
