International Consolidated Airlines Group (aka International Airlines Group or IAG) brings together the best of the British and Spanish airlines. The publicly traded holding company was born out of the 2011 merger of British Airways (BA), one of the largest European airlines, and top Spanish airline Iberia. Between the two airlines -- which continue to fly under their own brands -- IAG boasts more than 400 commercial aircraft that fly to some 200 destinations around the world. The company now represents the third-largest airline in Europe and the sixth-largest in the world. BA, the larger of the two airlines, also holds a larger portion of ownership in IAG, 56%, while Iberia maintains a 44% stake.
