Arawak Energy reserves its energy for former Soviet Union countries. An oil and gas exploration and production company, Arawak's assets include six properties in the Pre-Caspian Basin in western Kazakhstan, as well as four properties in the Komi Republic in Russia. The company also has exploration operations on properties in Azerbaijan. In 2008 the company's total proved and probable reserves were 61.8 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe); that same year, its total production topped 4 million boe, most of which was produced by its operations in Kazakhstan. Formerly a publicly-owned company, Arawak was acquired by a subsidiary of Vitol Group in 2009.
