Brehm Communications (BCI) provides a home for hometown newspapers. The company publishes more than 60 local newspapers in seven states, mostly in California. Its portfolio of papers includes the Auburn Journal (California), the Daily Democrat (Fort Madison, Iowa), The Folsom Telegraph (California), and The Laughlin Nevada Times. BCI also publishes shoppers, advertising circulars, and specialty magazines. In addition, the company maintains news and information Web sites for most of its papers. Founded in 1919 as the W.J. McGiffen Newspaper Company, BCI is owned by the Brehm family led by chairman W.J. Brehm.
