When in Rome, read the popular Roman newspaper, Il Messaggero, published by Caltagirone Editore. (When in Naples, check out Il Mattino). The company also publishes two regional newspapers, Corriere Adriatico and Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia, and in 2006 it acquired a majority interest in the Venetian newspaper Il Gazzettino. Its free daily paper, Leggo, is the country's third-most-popular paper, with a circulation of more than 2 million copies. Caltagirone Editore also owns an advertising agency, Piemme, and an Internet service provider, Caltanet. The company was founded in 1999 and is controlled by Caltagirone S.p.A. and chairman Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone.
