Mmmmetals is the mantra for OM Group (OMG). The company produces metal-based specialty chemicals for about 40 industries, predominantly makers of batteries, chemicals, tires, and coatings. OMG produces cobalt-based chemistry products such as organics, inorganics, powders, and metals. It offers more than 1,200 products to roughly 2,000 customers; about a third of the company's sales are in Finland. Japan's Nichia Corporation accounts for 20% of sales. In early 2007 OM Group significantly altered its business with the sale of its nickel operations, which had accounted for about half of its annual sales, to global nickel giant Norilsk Nickel for $400 million.
