Ultimate Electronics competes in the Rocky Mountain, Midwest, and Southwest regions of the US, selling mid- to high-priced televisions, audio and video products, and mobile electronics. It operates 65 stores under the SoundTrack and Ultimate Electronics banners in 14 states. Stores range from 15,000 to 51,000 sq. ft. and carry about 4,000 products under 130 brand names. Ultimate Electronics' gimmick for competing with much larger chains: a 110% refund of the difference between its price and any lower one. The company is operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
