Whether you call it the South or the Sunbelt, Colonial Properties has much of it covered with its residential properties. The self-administered real estate investment trust (REIT) owns and operates nearly 120 multifamily apartment complexes with approximately 35,000 units, as well as some 50 office properties and almost 30 retail properties. Colonial Properties also offers third-party management services for commercial real estate clients. It is active in such markets as Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia; Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina; Austin, Dallas, and Fort Worth, Texas; Richmond, Virginia; and Charleston, South Carolina.
