As the first American brand of china to be used in the White House, Lenox sets the table like no other. The company sells tabletop and giftware products under the Lenox, Dansk, and Gorham brand names. Customers include independent gift retailers, department stores, and catalog firms. Lenox also sells its products online and by catalog. Walter Scott Lenox founded the business in 1889 as the Ceramic Art Company. Investment firm Clarion Capital Partners acquired Lenox Group's assets in 2009 after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. As the firm reorganized, it boxed up its Department 56 giftware brand, selling it to collectibles marketer Enesco.
