Companhia de Tecidos Norte de Minas - Coteminas is a behemoth in the world of Brazilian textiles. The country's largest textile producer operates 11 industrial units that make and distribute bath, bedding, linen, and apparel products. The bulk of Coteminas' sales are generated abroad. After acquiring Springs Industries in late 2005, the company increased its global competitiveness by creating Springs Global (a 50/50 joint venture between itself and the former US textile company). Founded in 1975, Coteminas is controlled by the family of Brazil's vice president, Jose Alencar.
