Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura (PINFRA) is the phoenix arisen from the ashes of Grupo Tribasa. Established in 1969, Tribasa was involved in infrastructure development until the late 1990s, when Mexico fell on economic hard times. It filed for bankruptcy in 2001, reorganized, then changed its name to Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura in 2005. Its main focus on infrastructure development (primarily in Mexico, but also in Ecuador) remains. PINFRA finances, constructs, and operates various heavy, industrial, and urban construction projects including highways, ports, bridges, and airports. It also operates ports, parking lots, highways, sewage systems, and waste management projects.
