SWIFT GALEY Company Profile
SWIFT GALEY (formerly Galey & Lord Swift Denim) is growing into its britches. Despite suffering through bankruptcy twice since 2002, denim still looks good on the slimmed down company. One of the leading US producers of denim, SWIFT GALEY also makes twill, poplin, corduroy, and blends for major retailers including Abercrombie & Fitch and Gap. It operates four divisions, with each selling denim: jeans, specialty fabrics for the home, sportswear, and uniforms. In November 2004 New York-based investment firm Patriarch Partners LLC bought Galey & Lord for approximately $188 million. The company has manufacturing operations in the US and Mexico, as well as throughout Asia and Europe.
