Out in the West Texas town of El Paso, this company fell in love with the natural gas industry. Founded in 1928 in its namesake city, El Paso Corp. is primarily engaged in gas transportation and storage, oil and gas exploration and production, and gas gathering and processing. Operator of the largest gas transportation system in the US, El Paso has interests in 42,000 miles of interstate pipeline. Subsidiary El Paso Exploration and Production has estimated proved reserves of 2.3 trillion cu. ft. of natural gas equivalent in Brazil, Egypt, and the US. The company also has interests in global energy projects and markets wholesale energy commodities.
