Like its namesake, Zebra Technologies may be best known for black and white stripes. Zebra makes bar code and plastic card printers and printing materials (ribbons and ticket stock) for automatic identification and data collection systems. Zebra derives the majority of its revenues from hardware sales, but the company also develops software for bar code systems and provides maintenance services. Its printing systems are used for such applications as inventory control, driver licensing, hospital patient identification, employee time and attendance monitoring, and automated warehousing.
