XOMA doesn't want to toil in anonymity. Instead, the company pairs with larger drug firms to develop and market its products, primarily monoclonal antibodies. XOMA receives royalties from biotech giant Genentech on FDA-approved product Lucentis, a treatment for age-related macular degeneration that Genentech developed with technology licensed from XOMA. The company's in-house team is developing its lead candidate, diabetes treatment XOMA 052. It has additional collaborative agreements with Novartis (to develop cancer therapies) and the National Institutes of Health (to find treatments for bioterror threat botulinum).
