This company keeps its eyes on the pies. VICORP Restaurants operates and franchises more than 260 family-style restaurants in about 25 states. Its flagship Village Inn chain is popular for its breakfast menu and pies, while VICORP's Bakers Square chain is known mostly for its selection of fresh-baked pies. (The eateries also serve lunch and dinner.) About 180 restaurants are company-owned, while the rest are run by franchisees. The company's VICOM subsidiary manufactures pies at three commercial bakeries; it also sells some pies to third-party customers. Founded in 1958, VICORP is owned by affiliates of Fidelity National Financial and Providence Equity Partners.
