Chongqing Department Store does more than it says. As the name implies, the company owns and operates about 20 department stores throughout the Chongqing municipality of central China. The stores sell well-known Chinese brands of men's, women's, and children's clothes; housewares; personal accessories; and home decor. Several locations also contain travel agencies. As the name doesn't mention, the company also has nearly 60 consumer electronics stores and supermarkets in the same area. Though the company traces its roots to a department store opened in 1950, it didn't take its present name until 1992.
