Who gives a fig about finance? Fortress certainly does. The global alternative investment firm manages private equity funds and hedge funds for institutional investors, wealthy individuals, and on its own behalf. Its private equity arm focuses on acquiring long-term controlling stakes in undervalued companies; it also manages real estate investment firms Newcastle Investment and Eurocastle Investment. Its hedge fund arm includes both liquid and hybrid hedge funds. The company earns management fees, incentive revenues based on fund performance (it takes some 20% of profits), and investment income on its own capital investments. Fortress Investment Group has some $29.5 billion in assets under management.
