Part of the DB Mobility Logistics unit of German state-owned rail operator Deutsche Bahn, DB Schenker is one of Europe's leading providers of freight transportation and logistics services. The company, formerly known as DB Logistics, provides ground transportation in Europe and air and ocean freight forwarding and contract logistics services (including supply chain management) worldwide, using the Schenker brand. Through its DB Schenker Rail business, DB Schenker uses the Deutsche Bahn network and those of partners to transport freight by rail. Another business unit, Intermodal, arranges freight transportation by combinations of road and rail. The DB Schenker businesses operate from about 2,000 facilities.
