Q-Cells has its eye in the sky and its purpose in the future of what the sun can do. The Germany-based company is an independent manufacturer of photovoltaic solar cells. It is also in the process of developing additional solar technologies and the commercialization of those products, raising each unit's energy production capability more than 50% over conventional cells. The company claims to be the world's largest independent manufacturer of solar cells; leading competitors such as Kyocera, Mitsubishi Electric, and Sharp have multiple lines of business in addition to solar cells. Q-Cells gets about three-quarters of its sales in Europe.
