Uni-Marts presents a united front against empty gas tanks, nicotine cravings, and hunger pangs. The company runs about 285 Uni-Mart convenience stores in Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio. The stores sell Uni-Mart brand gas while others sell BP, Exxon Mobil, and Sunoco brands. The firm also operates discount tobacco stores, mostly in New York and Pennsylvania, under the "Choice" banner. The chain sold about 100 of its stores to independent dealers in 2005. Green Valley Acquisition was formed in 2004 to buy Uni-Marts, which is controlled by the chain's management, including Uni-Marts' founder and CEO Henry Sahakian. The company was acquired out of bankruptcy after filing for Chapter 11 in 2008.
