If you've got chronic pain, Advanced Neuromodulation Systems (ANS) will get on your nerves -- literally -- with its spinal cord stimulation devices. The company makes products that treat chronic pain by stimulating nerves in the spinal cord with electrical impulses, delivered through leads connected to an implantable device; the process works by disrupting pain signals that are traveling to the brain. ANS sells several versions of these systems, with either internal or external power sources, under the names Eon, Genesis, and Renew. It also makes implantable leads and software (Rapid Programmer) used to program its neuromodulation systems. The company is a subsidiary of St. Jude Medical.
