The world's largest franchisee of Pizza Hut restaurants, NPC International owns and operates more than 1,100 pizza restaurants and delivery kitchens in almost 30 states, mostly in the South. The fast-food eateries, which also serve buffalo wings, pasta, and other items, are franchised from YUM! Brands. NPC was founded by former chairman Gene Bicknell, who was one of the original Pizza Hut franchisees; he opened his first pizza restaurant in 1962. The company is owned by investment firm Merrill Lynch.
