National Commerce Financial is the holding company for National Bank of Commerce, Central Carolina Bank & Trust, and NBC Bank; through a joint venture with Ukrop's Super Markets, it owns 49% of First Market Bank in Richmond, Virginia. With about 475 branches throughout the Southeast (many of them in grocery stores), the banks offer deposit accounts, mortgages, business and consumer loans, credit cards, insurance, asset management, and trust and brokerage services. The company's Fleet One unit provides credit cards for fuel and maintenance to the trucking industry. SunTrust Banks is buying National Commerce Financial for some $7 billion.
