Mining a rich seam of safety needs in hazardous workplaces, Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) makes protective equipment for workers in the military, as well as the fire service, construction, and homeland security industries -- and miners, of course. The company produces air-purifying respiratory equipment, gas masks, and head protection gear, much of which carries the MSA Safety Works brand. Its thermal imaging cameras enable firefighters and rescue workers to see through darkness and smoke. MSA has operations in international locations, including engineering groups in Germany, France, and Sweden.
