Don't let Micron Technology's name mislead you: The circuits on its chips are well under one micron across, but the company is one of the largest memory chip makers in the world. It makes dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chips, flash memory chips, and memory modules, as well as image sensor chips. The company sells to customers in networking, consumer electronics, and telecommunications, but the bulk of its sales are in the computer market. Micron sells to OEMs and retailers directly and through distributors. Intel and Hewlett-Packard are leading customers. Micron has manufacturing plants in China, Italy, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, and the US. About two-thirds of sales come from the Asia/Pacific region.
