Kent International Holdings (formerly Cortech) is a company without a core. The firm, which previously developed drugs for inflammatory disorders, lost its research partners because of disappointing test results and has discontinued its drug development operations. In 2006 Cortech merged with wholly-owned subsidiary Kent International and took on the moniker of the latter to get a fresh start. It is looking for opportunities to merge with or acquire another business and, in the meantime, has set up an advertiser-supported social networking site aimed to promote interaction among Chinese and US users. Through his Kent Financial Services investment firm, chairman Paul Koether owns more than half of the firm.
