A subsidiary of Akzo Nobel, the world's largest paint manufacturer, Akzo Nobel Industrial Chemicals manufactures and supplies products such as chlorine, iron and aluminum salts, dimethylether, hydrochloric acid, and sodium-related chemicals to the glass, detergent, and paper making industries. In addition to its product line, the company offers transport and water treatment services. Industrial Chemicals operates facilities in Asia, Europe, and North America; those facilities produce chlor-alkali chemicals, water treatment products, salts, and MCA (monochloroacetic acid). The unit also operates two joint ventures, including a cogneration plant. It was called Akzo Nobel Base Chemicals until 2008.
