What do you get when you splice a genetic analysis company with a chemical synthesis company? Biotage. The life sciences company was created when Pyrosequencing acquired Personal Chemistry in 2003. Its Discovery Chemistry division offers small-molecule drug discovery purification and separation systems. Biotage's customers include some of the world's leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as academic research organizations. The company has offices in Sweden, the US, and the UK. In 2008 Biotage sold its Biosystems unit, which facilitated DNA sequencing, to QIAGEN NV. The divestment allows the company to focus its energies on the Discovery Chemistry unit.
