Fresenius Kabi isn't one to stray from the sight of blood; to the contrary, the company's life depends on it. A subsidiary of Fresenius SE -- to which it contributes more than 15% of its annual sales -- the unit is a leading provider of a variety of transfusion products and devices. Fresenius Kabi's Voluven product is the top-selling artificial colloid -- a blood volume substitute used after trauma -- outside North America. Other infusion products include products for fluid and blood replacement, generic anesthetics and other IV-administered drugs, and medical devices such as insulin delivery pumps. Fresenius Kabi also produces clinical nutrition products for patients who are unable to digest normal food.
