Like the great Portuguese explorer, Magellan Navigation aims to circumnavigate the globe. The company provides a wide variety of GPS units and accessories for professional applications, including land and marine surveying, mobile mapping, and OEM products for the automotive, marine, and aviation industry. Magellan also offers maps and other accessories. Formerly a subsidiary of Thales, the company was acquired by a private investment group led by Shah Capital Partners in 2006. Magellan sold its consumer products division to MiTAC International in 2009.
