Sega Sammy Holdings does exactly what its name states -- it is the holding company for SEGA and Sammy. A leading maker of video games, SEGA is known for its Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Sammy is Japan's top producer of pinball-like pachinko games and pachislots, upscale versions of classic slot machines that allow players to win prizes instead of cash. Established in 2004, Sega Sammy is integrating the companies' operations, which also include about 450 amusement centers (Club Sega, Joypolis) and arcade machines (Virtua Fighter, UFO Catcher). Sega Sammy is Japan's largest gaming software company (based on revenue), topping Konami.
