Global water and waste services company SUEZ Environnement engages in the treatment, production, and distribution of drinking water; the collection, recovery, and treatment of wastewater; and the collection and processing of nonhazardous and hazardous waste, the recycling of waste, and street cleaning. It manages about 1,200 drinking water production plants and 150,000 kms (95,000 miles) of sewage lines. SUEZ Environnement operates through subsidiaries such as Ondeo (drinking water and sanitation services), Degrémont (water treatment services), and SITA (waste management services). Parent SUEZ spun off SUEZ Environnement in 2008 as part of its requirements to merge with Gaz de France and become GDF SUEZ.
